In Prisoner's Rue, you play as a slime that's been brought to life in a laboratory. You need to find your way up, defeat enemies along the way, and free yourself from the lab. This game is a submission for Metroidvania Month 32 (with the theme Defective Generation), although it will likely be developed further later.

You can press Escape to open the pause menu and change the controls (although pressing Escape in full screen will take the game out of full screen). You can change the default keyboard, mouse, and controller bindings, as well as the volume.

The default controls are the following, although they are fully rebindable in the pause menu:

  • ASD, left joystick, or d-pad for movement
  • Space (A on controller) to jump
  • W (Y on controller) to interact
  • Escape (start on controller) to pause
  • Escape (B on controller) to go back
  • Shift (RB on controller) to dash, if unlocked
  • Left click (X on controller) to attack

You can change the volume, respawn at the beginning, and reset the game in settings as well.

Cool stuff! Unfortunately, I ran into a mean visual bug where the flickering lights would pile up and form a solid strobe circle that eventually became a black cube. This obscured most of some levels... Otherwise, I love the game! Well done.

Cool game I

could not get past the lava though.
